Here at Gio's Holland lops of Utah we take our rabbits life very seriously. We are thankful for your interest and encourage you to ask questions! Please find below some of our husbandry routines.
ARBA Registered Rabbitry #D1911- HLRSC member - USDA licensed - BBB Accredited.
1-We have an attending Veterinarian, Dr. Grover from Creekside Animal Hospital Visiting our rabbitry quarterly, during these visits Dr.Grover makes sure that our animals and YOUR future animals are healthy and well taken care of. 2-Our rabbits are clean and they are dewormed. We do not breed farm rabbits, our Holland lops are clean and they make a perfect indoor pet or show companion. 3-We provide excellent healthcare to our animals and when absolutely necessary we provide humanely, yet professional euthanasia to sick animals. We do not watch our animals die at home. 4-We feed only the highest quality pellets , Fresh free choice Timothy hay and homegrown fresh vegetables. Our pellets aren't simply generic inexpensive farmers feed pellets, we nutritionally measured the best combination of protein, fiber, carbohydrates and fat to make our bunnies diet great. 5-We do not feed corn based pellets, instead, we chose to feed Alfalfa/timothy hay based pellets. This pellet is Corn free and plain without junk in it. 6-All our rabbits use a litter box and our babies learn to use the litter box as soon as they start to explore outside their nest boxes. Since 2012! 7--We use only Aspen wood pellets on our rabbit's litter boxes, they absorb the smell and keep their litter box fresh. 8-Our nest boxes are made of Stainless steel . Our dishes are also made of stainless steel which is easy to sanitize. 9- Our entire herd is social and handled daily which make their offspring very calm and sociable as well. 10-Our rabbits have free feeding of first cut Timothy hay 24 hours a day every day. 11-We do not feed commercial treats to our animals. 12-All our herd receives plenty of exercise daily, we currently have 4 exercise pens. One of them being 10'x10' with a castle and multiple ramps and levels. Our exercise pens are located under a very large custom made pergola and covered patio that provides shade for them almost all day long. 13-We do Not keep our animals in Cages, We have custom build hutches that are spacious and comfortable for our animals. Our hutches are 48"x 26.50" each, they have a solid wood floor covered with pet safe and waterproof clear paint which make sanitation easier. Our rabbitry is completely insulated and is air conditioned and heated. 14- We truly hold our rabbits daily, all of them! By taking them outside daily for exercise they all get held and played with which make all of them very sociable. our babies play indoors with us almost every day, all that is possible because that's all I do, I do not have a secular job and I do this with my twin daughters that are 20 yrs. old. 15- I do not mass produce pet quality bunnies for selling purpose. I keep my best! This is my hobby the pets I sell are for qualified buyers that are informed and ready to provide a loving home to our animals forever. The money earned by the sale of our bunnies goes back into providing a wonderful long life to our herd. We offer a complimentary vet visit to all our pet buyers. 16-We carefully inspect each of our animals weekly, we check their genitals, teeth, ears, feet, fur and trim their nails every two months. 17-We inspect our animals after each show to make sure they have not contacted any sick or infested animals. We then quarantine them for 7 days to guarantee our herd health. 18-We will spend the money and give emergency care to any of our animals at any time of the day or night, we do not watch our animals die without medical help. 19-I absolutely do not stud my bucks or breed my does to outside bucks. I only breed within my herd and almost all my animals have been in my rabbitry for more than a year which minimizes risks of diseases and infections. All of them have seen Dr.Grover at least 3 consecutive times now. 20-My show animals do not stay at state fairs exposed to airborne diseases, viruses and/or bacteria's. I only show in very short shows and my animals are with me at all times. As you can see the list can just go on and on I truly run a Unique rabbitry, I love my rabbits and I believe you will love them too!
