Breeding Holland lops is a real challenge. Murphy's law seems to apply perfectly.
We have been breeding Holland lops for almost 4 years now and after many disappointments and bad decisions we are excited for what we are producing now.
As we have a very small rabbitry we have to be very selective and keep only what we absolutely believe in, that's not always easy because we too make mistakes. We have sold animals we should have kept and kept animals we should have sold and at the end of the day we just need to stay focused because we cannot change what is no longer in our control.
Our focus is not to hit every show, sacrifice our animals in order to win a ribbon to justify our prices. Our animal quality speak for their selves. When we sell a animal, I do not need boast a pedigree full of well known bloodlines, our animals are clean ,tamed and beautiful. It seems like that's what my clients are looking for!
Our focus is to keep a honest view of our herd and to strive on producing Holland lops that will have a positive effect on the breed if they are bred one day, although we do sell pets our goal isn't to produce hundreds of babies to supplement our income at the end of the month. When we do sell a baby as pets is due to being truly pet quality. Since our space is limited we only keep the best ones.
Our foundation animals have proven genetics behind them and you can SEE their quality without seeing their pedigree.
Our goal is to continue to build up a show team and when we have that team ready we will show at the Holland Lop Nationals, Conventions and nearby shows. We are not interested in displaying another breeder's hard work, we want to display our own! We have gathered gorgeous animals from well known breeders that we are grateful for, but I do not want to show such animals as mine to win a ribbon. They are the efforts and hard work of someone else.
