Everyday is a new experience when you are talking about raising rabbits, one look on my herd and I know if there is fur missing, lost of weight, or anything is different. The only way to learn about rabbits is to spend a lot of time and observe them. So if you want to bond with your rabbit spend quality time watching him and the best level is eye to eye so get down and watch him!
Now back to the topic question: One or Multiple?
In my opinion multiple bunnies are best, one is not necessary easier or less cost, except with spay and neuter instead of one you will end up paying for two.
It all comes down to what you are looking to achieve, if your goal is companionship for your bunny, happiness and lot's of playtime multiple bunnies are for you. As we all have different life styles and things that we do beside loving bunny I would carefully examine your personal circumstances. Who would baby sitter when you travel? is it harder with two? normally who takes care of one takes care of two but again each one carries its own load ,so be sure to consider your circumstance.
Two bunnies entertain each other and give grooming sessions free of charge, they cuddle at night and share everything. when you buy two or more there is the need to spay and neuter sooner then if you bought one, boys and girls will fall in love and want to "marry" at around 3-4 months so you could spend $250.00-$400.00 in that procedure alone, bunnies are exotic animals and for that reason vet care is pricey. Rabbits aren't cheap as people seem to think. if you love them and want to give them a good life you will give them the preventative care they deserve by scheduling your biannual vet checks.
If I notice someone not eating drinking or with loose stools I immediately contact my vet at Creekside animal hospital. It's much better to catch things as they arrive, a bunny that is not eating should be considered a emergency.
so please be sure to consider how much can you afford for vet care, feed, toys, hay, and time, how much time can you spend with your bunny?
If you decide to buy more then one be sure to buy siblings from the same litter.
