Alot of people ask what is the essential items I have to have before buying a bunny?
when you buy one from me,what I ask that you have is:
Pet porter: for pick up of the bunny,it's part of my sales policies,a box won't do it. You also will use it to trip to the vet if ever needed ,also to play at the park, granny's house.... and off course; to go shoppingggg!!!
Water Bottle: small at first. They get used to what the mom uses and if you want him to have a easier transition, just get one from me. I always have extras and I always buy the same color.
LitterBox: All my babies are potty trained before 3 weeks old,so it's a must to have a litterbox, again if you want to make it easier for both of you, just get one from me,they are used to the colors and will never noticed the difference.
Feeder: some people use Bowls,is up to you I use feeders because they always tip over the bowls
Pine Cones from Little cottonwood Canyon....you can find it any where there.
Brush: they love to be brushed and it helps to get rid of the extra hair,so they don't have to swallow it.
Cage: if you are keeping the bunny Indoor I recommend a cage,I sell them so please feel free to ask. They must be solid bottom, wire bottom cages are just cruel in my opinion, many people uses it but would you like your feet getting cought on wires all day? Make your bunny happy get them a solid bottom cage!
Toys: Wood Blocks, wood chunks(hard wood) balls, teddy bears, pine cones.... if you were locked up all day you would problably need things to distract you....
Time: They need your time, even after they grow buying a bunny is a long time commitment, not a responsibility to be left for little kids, they need at least one hour per day to run, jump and goof off.
in the summer: Fresh, well ventilated area, they are very sensitive to heat and will die easily.
Gatorade bottles filled with water then frozen, just put one in the cage or hutch and they will lay next to it to cool off. Keep them in the shade, make sure the sun will not turn or move and hit the bunny.
Grooming: small scissors, brushes for fur ,tooth brush for foot(works the best) nail trimmers, water bottle with spray nozzle for spot cleaning.
Qtips for wiping nose and ear if needed.
Tips: when you get your baby home just make sure everytime you hold him that you check his bottom area to make sure it's clean and free of tangles. do not pull fur that is all tanged up,it will rip their skin and the bunny will die with excessive bleeding.
just be gentle and using a wet cloth ,gently wipe it clean,if you get grossed out just remember they ingest only hay and pellets that are made out of hay,no big deal! Use your small scissors to trim around the tail area as needed, feel free to call if you need.
When trimming nails be sure to have complete control of the bunny and never get too close to the pink area on the nail,it will bleed and hurt. just trim little by little as needed.
in the winter: They really don't need much, just keep the bunny out of wind draft and rain or snow. if indoors he will not need a heat lamp.
