In the world of rabbits there are few individuals that have earned the right to brag about their wonderful rabbits and especially in Holland lops, there are just a few that can say have succefully built their own bloodline with 20+ years of dedication and hard work.
I have met some of these people in person and one that is inspiring to me is Mark Taylor from Utah. Mark is one of my role model and I have never heard him bragging ! Instead he is humble and kind.
He has the most consistent, gorgeous Holland lops and could rightfully brag about them! However the most beautiful thing about him is that I have NEVER heard him bragging about his rabbits, instead him and his grandson Ty Gordon are kind, polite and always willing to give us a hand with our questions.
It makes me laugh when I see posts on social media
when I see youth bragging about their herd. In my opinion Homebred is a animal that was produced by you from your own rabbits not purchased rabbits.
I understand the excitement of finally having a good enough animal. We couldn't wait until we could Buy a good enough to show, however that gets old. If you bought a doe and a buck from another breeder and they had babies at your rabbitry still nothing for you to be bragging about and especially not bragging about showing "homebred". The kind breeder who sold the parents of that animal should have the recognition, not you.
Is so easy to buy Great quality animals from kind honest hearted individuals like these veterans above, by easy I mean it just take patience and money. The hard thing is to start from nothing and patiently build block by block of your own bloodline and have to hear people who are breeding Holland lops for couple years bragging about something they haven't work hard to produce.
Oh well whatever makes them feel important....
Homebred means that you produced not bought!
