I decided to post this to help bunny owners learn how to save their bunnies that are having gas.
Yesterday I almost lost my pet fuzzy lop "Red." He was scheduled to get neutered yesterday,so I woke up around 6 am to feed him and get him ready. Immediately, upon getting to his room, I realized he wasn't well. Red is always happy to see me, when he didn't greeted me in the morning, I knew something wasn't right. I noticed he wasn't eating so I immediately started my regimen.
1-Nutri drops,2-Gas relief medication,3- force feed. Please go to Rabbit supplies if you need some.
Luise and I had another rabbit getting fixed yesterday, so we went to the vet and got some breakfast. When we returned home, he was still not eating so we continued to force feed him throughout the day until 6 pm, when I noticed that his belly was about to pop. He was hunched back in the corner, cold and super bloated. I called my vet and they were closed. I had no doubt that Red wasn't going to make it. I started to frantically lookup online for something that I could do to help him and everything I read was negative and hopeless until I saw the video below.
I sat in my living room doing belly massages on him until 10 pm. Gave him another 1 ml of gas relief and Banamine then told him I would be back soon. At 3 am he was a bit better and ate his greens, then at 5 am he was running and his belly wasn't bloated anymore. What a relief!
Having emergency medication and knowledge can help you save your bunny's life. I hope this will help you someday.
