I decided to apply for a license, because I wanted to do everything legally. I have many requests for my babies out of state and out of the country so I wanted to be able to ship them legally.
Many breeders ship their rabbits illegally every day but I didn't want to be one of them.
In the USA it is illegal to ship a rabbit sight unseen, which means if the new owner haven't inspected the rabbit in person ,the breeder must be approved and licensed by USDA. The problem is that many, even very reputable breeders ship them even internationally without a license.
The fines are outrageous and they will catch up with people doing these things, I didn't want to ship illegally so I applied to get my license.
I benefited from it a lot. It helped me understand how to properly care for my facility to avoid diseases and also to protect my rabbits against many other dangers.
We are always looking for ways to improve their living area and play area.
We have our vet visiting our facility every three months, it's nice to have a second opinion, just in case.
We are proud of being doing what is right regarding the law and more yet for the safety and health of our animals.
The immense cost is worth it every penny.
Show Quality of a family pet, rabbits need to be socialized and tamed.
In order to tame a bunny you must to have personal interaction with them daily. As a parent I cannot imagine how it would be possible for me to handle my rabbits daily if I had a secular job. I stay home all day caring for my family and family animals, plus my twin daughters (20 year old) stay with me. I do not know how someone that works all day outside of their home could possibly claim to handle their rabbits daily.
Rabbits personality do not come from handling them daily only, It comes from genetics.
Here at Gio's Holland lops we select the best for our breeding program, our bucks are calm. They do not spray urine, they are clean and potty trained. Our moms are born here, and they have now three generations of cleanliness and individual attention on their background.
We put all our bunny outside to play on their custom made playground and during that time they get pickup, inspected, loved and socialized.
We welcome our waiting list buyers to visit our facility and enjoy the company of our babies and our adults too!
All babies are cute, but rabbits grow up fast. Do you want to have a free roaming rabbit, to become part of your family or a caged unhappy and possibly aggressive animal as it grow up?
Many babies are sold in Utah under the age of 8 weeks( which is ILLEGAL) and these same bunnies are later on re posted on local classifieds because they are no longer cuddly. Would you cuddle a rabbit that pees everywhere? Would you leave a non potty trained rabbit roaming your house free, knowing that they poop 200-300 "bunny pellets" daily?
Please research before adopting a bunny.
