Anywhere you look for bunny info you will find carrots associated to it, but there are so much more you can feed your bunnies and I find such a pleasure to prepare their meals daily!!!!
I feed 16% protein to my Bucks and does and babies. Does that are nursing gets 18% and I also have 25% Calf Manna in case I want them to bulk up a bit. If you are just getting a baby 16% is all you will need for the first 6 months. I sell a 50lbs bag that will last you that long!!!
The best Pellets are either Timothy Hay based or Alfafa, but as they get older you better stick to Timothy Hay based Pellets.
The most important thing to a rabbit is the fiber intake, they need a lot of fiber and the best way is Timothy hay. You should always have a unlimited supply of Timothy Hay on their rack.( I don't recommend putting in the cage)
Rabbits chew 120 times per minute and grids into Small Bits. In the wild they would eat lot's of grass, twigs, flowers, fruits, grains That's a very healthy diet, and you can imitate nature by providing your "lovey" with a variety of nutritional Veggies.
Here is my recommended list:
Make sure you wash all that you feed your bunnies, unless you buy Organic.
Carrots with tops
Kale(my number one fave)
Raspberry (leaves ,stems , fruit)
and much more!!!! It's a very rewarding experience to care for such cutie pies!!!!
Have Fun Planning!!!!
